DESCRIPTIONnetgather is a shell script that collects various information from your
system. It runs several commands like 'hinv' , 'uname -aR', etc ... When
started you are given the option to e-mail the output to a recipient.
This command has been implemented for customers to send information to
SGI Customer Call Center Support Personnel. Prompt mode is turned off
when using -n flag. The default output is standard output unless -o flag
is used. There are no default Email ( unless -A flag is used with -m ) .
The -m is independent of -f3-o. That is, if you don't want output going
to standard output while sending an Email output, redirect to /dev/null
or use "-o /dev/null".
EXAMPLES
# netgather-n -o out -m someone
This turns off prompt mode and save the output in file out in the current
directory and also send the output via Email to someone.
# netgather-m someone
The output goes to the screen and is also mailed to someone.
# netgather-o /dev/null -m someone1,someone2
The output goes nowhere but the output is sent via Email to recipients

# netgather-C
You are prompted to enter a key (see crypt(1) ). The output is then uuencoded so it is
sendable via Email in ASCII format. This is normally used with one or both flag -o or
-m flag.
# netgather-D <netgather_encrypted_file
Use -D to decrypt a uuencoded-crypted from a previous netgather-f3-C run.

This is intended to help customers providing SGI Call Center Support
Personnel with consistent data without typing any complicated commands.
In future release, the script may collect specific information about
specific interface like hip or eg or tg interfaces.
This script was introduced in IRIX 6.5.19.
