NAME
       syd - system dynamic display

SYNOPSIS
       syd [-m mode ] [-s update cycle ] [-n kernel filename ] [-l long com‐
       mand display ]

DESCRIPTION
Syd is a tool to determine system utilization. It uses the kernels sym‐
bol table to access kernel variables within /dev/kmem and needs access
to /dev/mem to display process related data. The display is refreshed
every few seconds from system memory.
Syd has currently three display modes available: normal mode (n), giv‐
ing a mostly numerical display of system utilization,	barchart mode
(b), giving a less informative but more impressive view of things, and
demo mode (d), which pretends to boot up the machine and ends	up in
       barchart mode.
Help for syd is displayed when any key without special function is hit
(e.g. "h"). For details of syd internal commands, see that help dis‐
       play page.
Syd terminates	upon reception of e.g. SIGTERM, which may be caused by
       hitting the interrupt key.

OPTIONS
-m specifies display mode (n,b or d). n is default.

-s specifies display update cycle. 3 seconds is
			   default.

-n specifies kernel image name. The default is /vmu‐
			   nix.

-l specifies display long commands. The default is
			   display short commands.

RESTRICTIONS
Syd is	using some machine resources, so only one (or very few) copies
should be active at a time. Putting syd into a	server	process might
save some overhead when many people are using it. Please report obser‐
vations, bugs and wishes to the author.
