JPEG2STIFF(1) Impressario JPEG2STIFF(1)NAMEjpeg2stiff - convert a Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) image file
to Stream TIFF (STIFF)
SYNOPSISjpeg2stiff [-O filename] [-L filename]
[-h] [-D] JPEGImageFilename ...
DESCRIPTIONjpeg2stiff converts Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) image files
into Stream TIFF (STIFF) format.
jpeg2stiff expects at least one JPEG image file to be specified on the
command line after all option switches. By default, jpeg2stiff assumes
that its output should be written to the standard output and messages
should be written to standard error.
The input image file(s) must be in the JPEG File Interchange Format
(JFIF).
-O filename
Specifies the name of the file to which the STIFF output will
be sent. If the -O option is not specified, output will be
sent to the standard output.
-L filename
Specifies the name of the file to which error, warning and
informational messages are to be written. If the file specified
already exists, any messages generated by jpeg2stiff will be
appended to the end of the file. If the -L option is not
specified, message output will be sent to standard error.
-h Prints a program usage message to the standard error. This
usage message also lists the currently supported output
configurations.
-D Specifies verbose output for debugging purposes.
NOTES
1. Currently, jpeg2stiff accepts JPEG image data only in the JFIF file
format. The TIFF 6.0 JPEG format is not currently supported.
2. jpeg2stiff can decompress baseline and extended sequential JPEG
compression methods. Progressive, hierarchical and lossless JPEG
methods are not currently supported.
3. jpeg2stiff accepts grayscale and RGB JPEG image colorspaces. A
grayscale image will produce a W STIFF image (ST_TYPE_W) and an RGB
image will produce an RGB STIFF image (ST_TYPE_RGB).

4. Only input images with eight bits per component are supported at
this time.
5. If jpeg2stiff is given an unrecognized or incomplete command line
option switch, it will print a warning message to the standard
error, ignore the option and continue processing.
