NAME
msync - synchronize a mapped file

fsync - write changes in a file to permanent storage

sync - updates all file systems

SYS$UPDSEC - Flush modified virtual address space back to mapped file

EXPLAINATION
The Digital UNIX msync, fsync, and sync system calls provide function‐
ality similar to the OpenVMS SYS$UPDSEC system service.	The sync call
is an asynchronous system call, the data and metadata for the entire
file system writes are scheduled and the call returns. The msync sys‐
tem call writes out a memory mapped file along a region specified in
the system call. The fsync system call writes out data associated with
       an open file.
