NAME
setitimer, getitimer - set or return the value of the interval timers

       SYS$SCHDWK - Schedule process wakeup

EXPLAINATION
The Digital UNIX setitimer system call provides functionality similar
to the OpenVMS SYS$SCHDWK system service. The setitimer system call
can set the interval timer. The interval timer will send a SIGALRM,
SIGVTALRM, or a	SIGPROF depending upon which timer	is set. The
setitimer does	not send a signal to another process, it is up to the
signal handler for the SIGALRM signal to send any signals to other pro‐
cesses if needed. Signals handlers intended to respond to alarm clock
signals	should	be installed by the	sigaction system call. The
setitimer system call accepts only relative times to send an alarm.
