NAME
fcntl - control open file descriptors

       SYS$DEQ - Dequeue lock request

EXPLAINATION
The Digital UNIX fcntl system call provides functionality similar to
the OpenVMS SYS$DEQ system service in that it allows the calling func‐
tion to unlock a portion of a file. The calling program can unlock a
portion of a file by calling the fcntl system call with F_SETLK as the
command	(second) parameter and the l_type field of the flock structure
set to F_UNLCK.	No callback (or AST) is associated with F_SETLK. The
lockf function is a front end to the fcntl system call.
