       SYS$CRELNM - Create logical name

EXPLAINATION
The Digital UNIX putenv function is similar to the OpenVMS SYS$CRELNM
in that it allows a name to be associated with a character string. The
putenv function allows the calling program to modify the list of envi‐
ronment variables for the current process and it's child processes.
       Other processes are not affected.
